Baserunning Tips:
-You don't have to be fast, just smart.
-Always know where the ball is.
-Tag up on all foul balls(in some leagues if the foul ball is caught, you can attempt to steal the next base).
-Know the situation and anticipate the action.
-Always check the defense for holes and gaps. Know the weakness as well as the strenghts of the infielders and outfielders.
-Always know how many outs there are.
-Above all else no matter what even if you know that you are gonna get out, if your coach tells you to go or take the next bag, by golly you better be running for it has hard as you can. Never doubt your coach's descion!!
-Every ball is a double until the defense indicates otherwise, be AGGRESIVE.
-When trying to be out a throw to first don't look at the ball, that only slows you down, look at first and try and get there as fast as possible.
-Explode off the bag, your first two steps should be the same if you stealing or if your just leading off, that way not to tip off the defense.
-When on third base take your lead off in foul territory, and return in fair territory.
-At the end of the play, with the ball going back to the pitcher, never turn your back on the ball. Who knows may be the throw will be a wild one, and you'll be able to take the next base.
-Say the bases are loaded and you are on first. The ball gets hit, the girl on third gets home and the next girl is rounding third(by now you should be at second) she goes to take home and they throw the ball to the catcher, if you see they arent paying attention to you but the play at home(even tho its already over) take off for third if you know you can make it.
